Some Nights by fun.

In 2009, Nate Ruess of The Format, Andrew Dost of Anathallo, and Jack Antonoff of Steel Train created a new indie band called fun. and released their debut album Aim and Ignite. Although the album received praise from various indie distributors, it reached little mainstream success.

Since then, the band signed to major record label Fueled By Ramen, toured with Panic At The Disco, and their single “We Are Young” peaked at the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100. During the height of their success, their sophomore album, Some Nights, reached number one on the iTunes charts the same day it was released.

The album opens with a soft, slightly eerie piano melody. Nate Ruess quickly enters with vocals that seem to wrap the listener in velvet. As the tension builds, operatic vocals and an orchestral waltz bring the song to its final flourish…
